A New Home

Tyler and Jaylen have announced that they have purchased a new build home located near Saratoga and Eagle Mountain, Utah.  This is on the northwest side of Utah Lake.  The picture above is a computer graphic of the design of the home.  When finished it will have three bedrooms and two and half baths.  The basement will remain unfinished but will be able to add another bedroom and bathroom, along with a family room.  They believe their home will be finished by this coming November.  We are excited for them and can't wait to see photos of the construction process.

IKEA Cabinets

"I just received my log cabin from IKEA!"
(Kevin showed this to us and it made me laugh)

We just received our craft room cabinets from IKEA!

This was the delivery truck used to bring our pallet.  It was so over the top that I wanted to take a picture of it.  The driver asked me to sign a paper indicating that I received the entire order in good condition, but of course he didn't want to wait for me to unpack everything.  I was an optimist and signed it.  Then I moved each box to our basement and checked it off the list, and happily everything was accounted for.  Now I get to put it all together.

Priest Ordination

Today we had the opportunity to ordain Jeffrey to the office of Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood.  The Church has adjusted the timeframe for when these ordinations occur so that the Young Men advance at the beginning of the year instead of on their birthday.  It's hard to believe he will be turning 16 this year.  After his ordination we took Grandma Sims home, and Jeffrey had his first opportunity to bless the Sacrament.  It was a nice way to start him on this responsibility as he wasn't under pressure from reciting the blessing in front of a full congregation.  The good news is that our Ward will be able to meet together again for Sacrament Meeting starting in February.

Thoughts and Prayers

We have a three year old grand-niece from Inkom, Idaho who is experiencing a major health issue.  She recently had to be taken to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City to have a tumor removed from her brain.  It was a golf ball sized tumor attached to her brain stem.  The surgeon successfully removed the tumor, but it was found to be cancerous.  She is struggling to regain her motor skills, and now she will need to be moved to another hospital even farther away from home to undergo chemotherapy.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, and we pray that she will be able to regain her former health and strength.

Craft Room and Update

So the craft room is mostly painted and the flooring put down.  It is really starting to look good.  We have ordered the cabinets from Ikea, and they should be delivered on January 28th.  They were out of stock on two of the cabinets, but hopefully we will be able to get those the first week of February.  Our first two weeks of January have been challenging so far.  Wendy had a root canal on a tooth that was giving her a lot of pain the first few days of this month.  She is still recovering from that.  The kids started up school again - still on a hybrid schedule of two days in class and the other days at home.  The car rental business is still slow and I had to lay off another employee.  That was difficult because he had been with us for four and a half years.  Hard to believe we will have five years in the business as of this coming May.  We are still hunkering down because of Covid 19, and we hope the nation survives the Presidential transition next week.

Ski Day at Pomerelle

Today, Jeffrey and I went skiing at Pomerelle Ski Area at Albion, Idaho.  It was our first day of skiing this winter.  It snowed most of the morning, and it was very windy.  Despite the blizzard-like conditions, we had a good time.  The snow conditions were pretty good, and we stayed warm under all of our winter gear.  We had fries and cheeseburgers in the lodge.  We were both tired and sore when we returned home.  It was amazing to see the temperature rise from 30 degrees on the mountain to 47 degrees in Pocatello.  We hope our local ski area will open this month.

Happy New Year 2021!

It was just Wendy, Jeffrey, Kaleb, and myself to ring in the new year.  We played games, watched a movie, ate snacks, and watched the ball drop over an empty Times Square.  It was a pretty quiet New Year's Eve celebration.  We stayed up until midnight, but we were all ready for bed.  I made Jeffrey come to Sun Valley with me today.  He is helping me wash cars this weekend, and we plan to go skiing at Pomerelle on the way home.  One of my resolutions this year is to keep this blog up-to-date.  In my mind that means writing in it at least once a week, but I hope to write more frequently.
