Weekend in Orem, Utah

On Friday, March 26th, Wendy and I took Jeffrey and Kaleb to Utah for the weekend to visit with Tyler and baby Baylor.  Jaylen actually drove to Pocatello to be part of a surprise birthday party for her mom.  We arrived in Orem around lunchtime and met up with Tyler and Baylor at Chubby's Restaurant.  We were also happy to have my brother, Robert, meet us for lunch as well.  It was good to see him.  We had a nice weekend.  We ate pizza for dinner at The Slab near BYU.  On Saturday we spent time at the new Orem Family Fitness Center playing racquetball and swimming in the pool.  We did a little shopping and we drove to Saratoga Springs to see the lot where Tyler and Jaylen are buying a home.  On Sunday we stopped to visit with Grandma Reighlyn and David at their place in Ogden.  We hadn't visited with them since this time last year.  They recently completed their Covid-19 vaccinations, and we are hoping they get a chance to come to Pocatello soon.

Baylor provides a much needed laugh

A Full Saturday

Yesterday, March 13th, was a full day.  I took Cooper, Kaleb, and Jeffrey to Pebble Creek for a full day of skiing.  It was a beautiful, sunny, warm day.  The snow conditions were OK, but this will probably be the last time we go skiing this season.  The morning was uncrowded, and we went up and down the mountain several times.  After lunch the crowd starting arriving.  There was a beer festival going on and a ski jumping competition that made the mountain a lot busier.  Still, we had a great time.  After cleaning up and resting for an hour, Jeffrey, his friend Payton, and Wendy and I attended a play performed by the Highland High School Drama students.  They performed the musical, Les Miserables, and they did a wonderful job.  There were several very talented singers.  It is a long performance, and we didn't finish until nearly 10:00 p.m.  Then we returned home to set our clocks forward one hour.  Needless to say I was pretty exhausted this morning.

Angel Moroni arrives at Pocatello

This morning Jeffrey was at Seminary when his teacher shared a live stream video of a crane placing the statue of the Angel Moroni on top of the Pocatello Temple.  Jeffrey sent me a text about it.  I jumped in the car and drove up to Highland to see it.  There was a good crowd watching, and I arrived in time to see the crew signal to the crowd that they were done.  Everyone started clapping and honking their car horns.  The Church has announced that the temple will be completed sometime this Fall.

Spring Skiing

On Wednesday, Jeffrey and I enjoyed a warm day of skiing at Kelly Canyon Ski Resort near Idaho Falls.  The temperature was in the 40's, and we definitely soaked up some sun.  We stayed until after sunset, but we were both too tired to stay for night skiing.  Megan and Cooper went that same day to Grand Targhee, but we opted to stay closer to home.  We had a good time, and I think Jeffrey appreciated the day off school.
