Black Friday and Gravel

This morning I went to Fred Meyer to do some Black Friday shopping.  I also went to Hobby Lobby and Home Depot.  I found some vinyl to use for cutting letters for a sign above the airport store.  Wendy changed their flight home to Saturday, so I didn't have to go to Salt Lake City today.  I spent the afternoon spreading gravel in the area where we are building our deck.  Our neighbors, the Parks, came across the street and helped me shovel and rake the gravel.  They saved me a couple of hours of back breaking work, and we were able to finish spreading all of the gravel.  The contractor will return on Monday to do the deck framing.

Thanksgiving

I spent a quiet day at home for Thanksgiving.  I watched the Macy's parade and some football on T.V.  I went to John and Karen's home around 3:30 p.m. and had a plate of turkey dinner while visiting with some of the McNabb family.  Joyce had spent most of the afternoon with them.  She was pretty tired, so we left soon after I arrived - with slices of pie courtesy of the McNabbs.  All of our family back east got together at Ryan and Megan's home for a nice Thanksgiving dinner.  Wendy, Jeffrey, and Kaleb then went with Ashley and Caz to their home in Maryland.  After getting to their home, they watched the movie, A Christmas Carol, before going to bed.

Game Night

The family got together in two different places.  Ryan, Megan, Cooper, Beckham, Caz, Ashley, Wendy, Jeffrey, and Kaleb attended a Washington Capitals professional hockey game in Washington D.C.  Kevin, Tyler, Jaylen, Baylor, and Mike watched the same hockey game on T.V. in Pocatello.  It was a fun game to watch.  In Pocatello, we continued our game night with King of Tokyo, and Kevin won both games.

Wendy, Jeffrey, and Kaleb fly to Dulles

We left the house about noon to drive to Salt Lake City.  I dropped off Wendy, Jeffrey, and Kaleb who took a flight to Dulles Airport to spend the week with Ryan and Megan and Ashley and Caz.  After dropping them off at the airport, I drove to Ogden and checked in at The Lodge to visit with Grandma Reighlyn and David Taylor.  Wendy's flight landed at Dulles about midnight, and Ryan picked them up at the airport to take them to his home in Bristow, Virginia.  I had a short visit with Mom and David before returning home to Pocatello.

Pocatello AirFare

I signed the lease agreement today, and Kevin and I walked through the airport store that will soon become Pocatello AirFare.  We will need to move a lot of shelving and do some cleaning.  I'm not sure how soon we will be able to open it for business, but I am hoping to do that sometime in December.  We are doing this in addition to taking ownership of the Avis/Budget rental location in downtown Boise, Idaho at the end of this month.

Century Roundup

Wendy, Jeffrey, and I went to the Roundup at Century High School tonight.  This is an annual fundraising event for all of the school's extra-curricular activities.  We had a pulled pork dinner and watched as several students performed for the crowd.  Several baskets were being auctioned off, and Wendy bid on a few of them.  She did win one which included two football tickets for next year, along with a Century scarf and food vouchers.  They had a good turnout.

Pocatello Temple Dedication

Today the Pocatello Temple was dedicated.  The General Authorities who participated included M. Russell Ballard, Neil Anderson, and Gifford Nielsen.  Wendy wasn't feeling well, so we decided not to go.  However, I drove Jeffrey, Grandma Sims, and Pat Gunter up to the temple so they could attend it.  There was a large crowd.  They sat inside the baptistry during the dedication.

Election Day

Today was election day.  I took Grandma Sims to Tendoy Elementary to vote.  We were voting for Pocatello mayor and three city council seats.  In Pocatello, the rule is that a candidate for mayor must have a majority vote.  From our election results we will now have a runoff election on November 30th between Brian Blad, the current mayor, and David Worley.  Brian Blad had the largest number of votes, but not 51%.  If he wins the runoff election he will serve his fourth term as mayor.
