Today I installed a countertop on the cabinets in the craft room. We bought the countertop from Lowe's in Pocatello. I had to trim the counter using a circular saw and a guide that I put together to try and keep the cuts as straight as possible. I managed it OK, and I filled in the cracks with white caulking. I installed the sink and faucet and hooked it up to the water supply. I was pretty satisfied with how it turned out. It's only been a year since we ordered the cabinets from IKEA.

Baylor Reading from a Book
Tyler and Jaylen shared this video clip of Baylor as she reads from one of her books. I love the sigh near the end. Reading is hard work!

A New Toilet
This morning I was determined to fix the toilet in the upstairs hallway bathroom. It has been leaking water for several weeks now. I bought a repair kit for the tank, but halfway through removing the old flushing system I realized that I wasn't going to be able to save the toilet. I also began to think about how frequently our current toilet clogged, so I decided to buy a new toilet. It took most of the day, but I was able to get the new toilet installed. This evening, Jeffrey took the car, picked up his friend Peyton, and they went to the Deleta skating rink. Kaleb spent his afternoon and evening at Pebble Creek Ski Area with the Franklin Middle School Ski Club. I picked him up at 10:30 p.m. There were about 150 students who had went skiing. Kaleb had a good time, but he was hungry and sore.

New Sunday Schedule
This morning we had an early start to church. Our meeting starts at 9:00 a.m. this year. After church I ended up going to the airport to work. I stayed until 4:30 p.m. We had a truck pick up cars from our lot to take to Salt Lake City. We had a busy holiday season, especially in Sun Valley. Wendy and I played Scrabble after dinner, and then we watched the Tom Hanks movie, Finch. It was OK.

New Year's Day
Last night we celebrated New Year's Eve. Jeffrey went to the Caldwell Chapel to attend a Youth event. He stayed until midnight and had a good time with a lot of youth. Wendy, Kaleb, and I played Munchkin for a couple of hours. At midnight we set off some fireworks that we had saved from the 4th of July. We slept in this morning, and we spent a quiet day at home. I spent some time putting Christmas directions away.
