Funeral Services for Inge Miller

Wendy, Joyce, and I attended the funeral services for Megan's grandmother, Inge Miller.  It was held at the Wilks Colonial Chapel.  Each of her five children presented memories and life sketches of their mother.  Then they allowed time for grandchildren to speak.  Megan shared her feelings, and she was deeply saddened by her grandmother's passing.  It was a wonderful service.  Inge was a very kind person.  Although I only met her a few times, I was always struck by her gentleness.  She passed away on Friday, June 24th.

Beckham is 6 Years Old

Beckham had his 6th birthday today.  He celebrated with his family at the Sheppard's home.  We missed out as we were still returning from Salt Lake City.  Hopefully, we can take him out later this week.  Jeffrey and Kaleb spent the day at Lagoon while Wendy spent time with Ashley.  My mom and I flew from Chicago.  After saying good-bye to Patricia at the airport, we took the Trax and FrontRunner to Farmington to meet up with Wendy and the boys.  We dropped off Reighlyn at the Lodge in North Ogden before returning to Pocatello.

Chicago Wedding

My family spent most of the day visiting with each other.  We spent time in the hotel lobby first.  Then we walked to Lisa's house which was just a few blocks away.  We decided to find something to eat at the Mariano's grocery store.  It had an atrium with large windows and tables to sit at.  We connected a few tables and started playing games; Phase 10 and Shanghai.  We stayed there for several hours.  We planned to leave the hotel around 7:00 p.m.  We drove to the venue, the Cotillion Banquet Hall in Palatine.  It was about 40 minutes from our hotel.  Everyone gathered in the main hall.  Our family was seated at the groom's table opposite the bride's table.  Everything was beautifully decorated.  The bride and groom's families were introduced, and then Kamran and Afia were announced and walked down the center of the room to a standing ovation.  There were about 400 guests.  Dinner was served.  I had trouble with the rice dish.  It was very spicy.  I managed well enough with the other dishes.  Dinner was topped off with dessert around 10:00 p.m.  Family pictures were taken with the couple for about an hour, and then the dancing began.  Our family started leaving before midnight.  It was quite the reception!

Baylor's Birthday Bash

We drove to Utah today to attend a birthday party for Baylor who turned 2 this year.  We met up with Ashley and Caz at their home, and then we drove together in their Toyota Highlander that they just bought this week to Tyler and Jaylen's home.  Jaylen's family was already there, and we arrived in time to eat dinner before watching Baylor open her presents.  She had quite the haul.  Kaleb played with Baylor some time, and she loved it.  Tyler and Jaylen showed us the new car they had just bought.  It is a Hyundai Palisades with a lot of nice features.

End of Trek and Jeffrey's Birthday

Jeffrey and Kaleb survived Trek and returned this afternoon.  The weather actually turned out pretty well.  It was cool, but sunny, and the leaders said it was one of the best experiences they had.  Kaleb said he actually enjoyed pulling the handcart.  Jeffrey had a good time, and he was complimented by leaders for his willingness to help.  This evening we had cake and ice cream to celebrate Jeffrey's birthday.  He is 17 years old today.

Trek

Wendy and the boys spent most of the day on Sunday getting ready for Trek.  They managed to put it all together, and this morning we took them to the Stake Center at 7:30 a.m. to meet up with all of the youth.  Our youth and adult leaders from the Alameda Ward took a group picture before they started the drive to the campsite near Bone, Idaho.  Jeffrey and Kaleb looked like pioneers.  The weather is not going to be too pleasant.  They are going to experience cold temperatures, wind, and rain.  Hopefully, they won't be too cold.
