A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief

Last week, Jeffrey was invited to play the piano during Sacrament Meeting.  Wendy had asked Jeffrey to learn one of her favorite hymns several weeks ago.  So, he has been learning the hymn, "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief", and he was at the point that he could perform it.  The timing of the invitation worked out just right.  I took the video of him practicing on the church piano.  He played it today, and it was very well done.

Shakespeare In The Park

Jeffrey decided he would go to see Shakespeare in the Park.  The performance was held in the Quad at Idaho State University.  The play was "King Lear".  He left early in order to get a good seat, and he was soon joined by several Drama students and teachers from Century High School.  They sat in a group to watch the play.  This is the play that their production, "Game of Tiaras", was based on.

Moby Dick

For several weeks now, I have been reading Moby Dick.  It has been a challenge to keep going through the entire novel.  The book in many ways is just like a long sea voyage.  There are a few short pages of adventure separated by long and slow, often tedious pages of everything you could possibly learn about whales and whaling.  Tonight I got to the final three chapters, and I couldn't stop reading.  I was really surprised at how quickly the story reached its climax and how little resolution or falling action there was.  It ends abruptly and grimly, but I really enjoyed it.

Lava Hot Springs

Jeffrey and I decided to spend the afternoon at Lava Hot Springs.  We went to the pool and slides for a couple of hours.  It was busy, but not too overwhelming.  After swimming we played the nine hole disc golf course that surrounds the pool complex.  It is challenging at times because it is close to the highway and parking lots.  Jeffrey had a fantastic shot on the third hole.  He made a birdie with his second throw from about 100 feet away.

Ensemble

Wendy is officially an employee of Ensemble.  She made the transition from Portneuf Medical over the past few weeks.  It will take some time for her to completely change her previous responsibilities, and to learn her new ones.  Hopefully, she won't feel overwhelmed by it.

Scout Returns Home

Scout has spent the week with us.  Caz and Ashley flew to Maryland last week for work.  Scout is pretty comfortable at the house.
