Jeffrey's Patriarchal Blessing

This afternoon, we went to the home of Richard and Kathy Kirkham at the top of Prospector Hollow Lane where Jeffrey received his Patriarchal Blessing.  Brother Kirkham spent quite a bit of time with us, asking us questions and giving us an opportunity to express our feelings for Jeffrey.  Then he gave Jeffrey his Patriarchal Blessing, and it was a good blessing.  I think Jeffrey had a positive experience with it, and I was grateful to be there for it.

Singin' in the Rain

For Wendy's birthday we had purchased tickets to see "Singin' in the Rain" at the Hale Center Theater in Sandy, Utah.  We drove down Friday night to stay with Tyler and Jaylen.  This morning we slept in and relaxed.  Wendy and I got to play with Baylor for a while.  At 11:30 a.m. we rode with Tyler and Jaylen to meet up with Ashley and Caz at the theater.  Jeffrey stayed with Baylor.  This was his first time to babysit, and he had it pretty easy.  Baylor went down for a nap before we left.  We had great seats in the front row.  The show started a little slow for me, and at first, I was concerned that it might be too amateur.  But it really picked up, and by the time the main character sang the title song, accompanied by an actual full rain shower, we were applauding enthusiastically.  It was really fun.  After the show we stopped to get dinner at R&R Barbecue.  We bought a family dinner of pulled pork, brisket, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, chips and queso dip.  The kids had bought Wendy a birthday cake that was a nicely decorated bundt cake with thick frosting.  It was a snickerdoodle flavor.  It was a great meal.  We are staying the night with Tyler and Jaylen again tonight.

Ward Party at Steadman Ranch

This evening I took Jeffrey, Cooper, and Beckham to a ward party at Steadman Ranch near Raft River, Idaho.  They have large water slides that the kids could go sliding on.  The kids had a good time, and I enjoyed watching them.  There weren't many kids, but Cooper managed to make a quick friend.  The ranch has a nice setting, and everyone there agreed it would be a good place for a family reunion.
