Halloween Costumes

The grandkids dressed up for Halloween, and all of them looked great.  Baylor was excited to be Buzz Lightyear and she participated in a costume parade in their neighborhood.  Wendy and I had a quiet Halloween.  I did hand out candy to Trick-or-Treaters, and we had a good number of them come by the house.  Jeffrey spent his evening at a Halloween party with his friends.  I think they watched the movie, A Quiet Place.  Wendy and I have rewatched the Stranger Things series which seemed appropriate for this time of year.  I also completed a jigsaw puzzle of the House of the Seven Gables, and I also read the book, which was a little tedious until the end.  I listened to an audio book of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow to get into the spirit of the season.  The books have made me curious about seeing Tarrytown, New York and Salem, Massachusetts.

Celebrating Camden's 1st Birthday

We spent Saturday night at Caz and Ashley's home, and we slept in.  Wendy got up first and started to help Ashley prepare for Camden's birthday party.  They put together a fruit, cheese, and vegetable plate and made a fruit dip.  They also made salsa.  Caz inflated balloons and hung them in the corner.  I ran to Costco to buy Pepperoni Pizza and Chicken Caesar Salad.  It was amazing to see how busy Costco was, but I made it in and out in good time.  Rob and LaDonna Alley arrived the same time I got back to the house.  Tyler, Jaylen, and Baylor came next, and then Kevin, Kay, Kaleb, and Jeffrey arrived.  We had a nice lunch, and then we watched Camden open his presents and eat his cake.  We enjoyed birthday cupcakes.  We rested in the afternoon, and then returned home around 6:30 p.m.  We had KFC for dinner.  I had to quickly shut water off as one of outside pipes had burst due to the extremely cold temperatures.  I had meant to do that earlier in the month, and I got caught unprepared for the 16 degree low.

Final Marching Band Competition

Wendy and I drove to Tyler and Jaylen's home on Friday evening to avoid an early morning drive on Saturday.  We stayed in the freshly painted and organized baby room which will soon be occupied with their new baby boy sometime in early November.  I had set an alarm for 3:15 a.m. to call Jeffrey to make sure he was up, and of course he was.  He had an early start to drive to Utah.  This morning we got ready and drove to the American Fork High School to attend the Timpanogos Marching Band Invitational.  Century High School was competing in the 3A Division along with three other schools, and they were among the first bands to perform.  We were joined by Tyler, Jaylen, and Baylor, and Caz, Ashley, and Camden.  We were all bundled up as the temperature was below freezing.  Century performed well, and the awards ceremony was scheduled for 2:00 p.m.  We left to eat lunch with Tyler and Jaylen at Wallaby's BBQ.  We returned to the competition in time to see Green Canyon perform.  It was good despite the fact that there was a cold, stiff wind blowing across the field.  Century won three awards for Best Color Guard, Best Percussion, and Best Music, and they took first place in the 3A Division.  It was a good way for Jeffrey to end his high school marching band experience.  We returned to Tyler and Jaylen's home to rest and warm up.  Jeffrey stayed with his classmates until the end of the Invitational, which didn't get over until after 10:00 p.m. We drove to the Outlet stores, and Wendy and I found winter coats on sale at the Columbia store.  We only paid $94 for two good coats.  Then we drove to Caz and Ashley's home after stopping at Smith's and Cafe Rio.  Caz and Ashley retuned home shortly after we arrived.  They had attended a Halloween party at the next door neighbors.  We stayed up to watch a British Bake-off show, and Wendy made a batch of Molasses Cookie dough.
