A Very Wet Independence Day

This morning we woke up to mostly cloudy skies that threatened rain.  We had Kevin, Kay, and Kaleb with their dog Benny, and Caz, Ashley, and Camden along with their dog Chip.  We also had Cooper who spent the night.  Ryan, Megan, Cooper, and Beckham had arrived in Idaho a few days earlier after driving across country and spending time in South Dakota.  They visited with us last night.  Caz left early this morning to play a round of golf.  We had breakfast on the outside griddle.  We had cubed yellow potatoes, pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and orange juice.  It was a good breakfast, although I may add onions and bell peppers to the potatoes next time.  Wendy, Ashley, Camden, Kaleb and Cooper left to drive to Marcus Sheppard's home in Inkom to watch the parade.  I tried to catch up, but I arrived after the parade was already moving through Main Street.  The rain was pouring down.  Poor John and Karen were riding in the open on an antique truck and tractor, and it looked like they were getting soaked.  Some people in the parade were still squirting the spectators and throwing water balloons.  Camden got a face full of water, and I narrowly avoided a water balloon.  I stayed to wait for the others at the Inkom Park, but they decided to call it quits and head home.  I found Candace selling her baked goods and bought a loaf of sourdough bread and a dozen cinnamon rolls.  I said hello to Jaylen and Baylor before heading back home.

Kevin, Kaleb, and I went to Fort Hall to buy fireworks from Craig's booth.  We spent $150 and got quite a few things for our money.  We returned home, and I took a long afternoon nap.  Tyler, Jaylen, Baylor and Murphy joined us for dinner.  We had BBQ Spare Ribs, Corn on the Cob, Deviled Eggs and a variety of vegetables.  The ribs had been slow cooked and turned out really well.  Wendy made her delicious Independence Day cake for dessert.  Kevin and Kaleb set off the fireworks when it started getting dark, and we enjoyed the show.  Camden did very well.  The fireworks would sometimes startle him, but he seemed to enjoy the moment.  He really liked throwing the small Poppers.  The dogs seemed to survive the night with a little help from sedatives.
