A Day at Sea

The ship remained at sea the entire day.  It was our chance to relax, and I think we made the most of it.  When we woke up I could see that we were traveling north and following the coastline.  We could see Vancouver Island from our veranda on the left and the Pacific Ocean on our right.

Wendy was getting ready in our bathroom, and I was enjoying the morning air on the veranda when I spotted Gray Whales surfacing in the distance.  Our cabin came equipped with a pair of binoculars, and I quickly grabbed them to get a better view.  I let Wendy know what was happening, and we took turns watching the whales as they spouted and rolled their backs out of the water.  We could also see their tail fins come up out of the water when they dived below.  We watched them raise their fins high and slap the surface.  It was another clear morning and the sun sparkled on the water.  We watched them for quite a while before going to breakfast.

At 10:00 a.m. we went to the World Stage to watch a presentation called, "Pacific Giants:  Iconic Whales of the Northwest".  The cruise director spoke and then started the video.  It lasted about 45 minutes, and I thought it was nice after actually seeing the whales earlier that morning.

We relaxed most of the afternoon.  The casino was very busy.  It was the only time during the cruise that people could gamble, and it was packed.  We didn't attempt it.  I grabbed a pizza for lunch and brought it to our cabin to eat.  Wendy took a good nap and felt better for it.  We thought we could eat dinner in the main dining room, but the line to get in was quite long.  Many people were dressed formally.  We decided to just go eat at the Lido Restaurant again, but we did make a reservation to eat in the main dining room for the following night.

After dinner Wendy went to the spa for her massage.  Her therapy was going to last over an hour so I went to the Crow's Nest to see if there was a puzzle I could work on and enjoy the views.  I also stopped at the library, but they had a limited selection and only a few chairs.  Wendy and I met up at the World Stage when she was done.  We watched a comedian named Tim Nutt.  He was from Canada which played well to the crowd who were mostly Canadian.  He was also a lot older than his poster pictured him.  I thought he was funny most of the time.  After the show we grabbed some cookies on our way back to our cabin and watched a movie on our T.V. before going to sleep.
