We slept until 8:00 a.m. The ship was already docked at Seattle, and the sun was shining. We looked out from our veranda to Puget Sound, but if we looked far to the left we could see downtown Seattle. We had docked about two miles from the waterfront when I had hoped we would dock directly at the waterfront, so we knew we would need to purchase shuttle tickets.
We had ordered room service for breakfast which they brought on schedule. We discovered that they forgot to bring us the utensils which I mentioned to our room attendant. Radi called room service, but they didn't respond. I went to the Lido Restaurant and grabbed the utensils, and then Radi showed up with some. He was great. He knew and used our names for the rest of the cruise. After breakfast we took the wheelchair and a backpack to go sightseeing. We exited the ship on a steep ramp. Employees helped us with the wheelchair. We found the shuttle and got on. The driver took us past the Space Needle and into downtown. We got off in front of a Target store and walked from there to Pike's Place Market.
We explored the shops at Pike's Place and then found an elevator going down to the waterfront. I have to say that Seattle has one of the best waterfronts of any large American city. We strolled along the piers and shops. We ate lunch in one of the piers at a restaurant called Wing Dome. Wendy had a Philly Steak sandwich, and I had a BBQ burger. It was an expensive place. We explored the new waterfront park that takes people up ramps and stairs from the Seattle Aquarium to Pike's Place Market. We stopped in at Target to find a charging cord that I needed to power my watch, and then we boarded the shuttle back to the ship.
After a short break in our cabin we put on swimming suits and went to the Lido pool. It was not very crowded, and they had opened the retractable roof to enjoy the sunny weather. The pool water was cool, but we enjoyed getting in and swimming for a little while. We also got in the hot tub, which was small but nice. It could only fit 4-5 people at a time.
We returned to our cabin and finished watching our movie from the night before. The ship undocked about 6:00 p.m. and we had a wonderful view of Seattle and the surrounding mountains as we sailed away. We even had a clear view of Mt. Rainier. We ate dinner at the Lido Restaurant. We explored the ship again, and Wendy signed up for a massage in the spa for the following day. We ended up at the Crow's Nest lounge on deck 12 - the highest deck - where we watched the sunset before returning to our cabin.
