Easter Sunday

In the Fall of 2024 I decided to surprise Wendy with a cruise vacation.  I searched for a short cruise that included Victoria, British Columbia, and found one offered by Holland America Line that seemed like an ideal choice for Wendy’s first cruise.  I was familiar with Holland America after working and cruising with them already, and I felt that it would be smooth sailing in Puget Sound instead of the open ocean.  I found that airline tickets from Salt Lake City to Seattle were much less than flying into Vancouver, and so I decided to rent a car in Seattle and park it in Vancouver.  This also gave us the opportunity to visit the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in April which is something that I have always wanted to do.  I gave the vacation to Wendy as a Christmas Gift, and she seemed excited by the idea.

In April I suggested to Wendy that it might be better if we had a manual wheelchair for her to sit in whenever we needed to cover long distances on foot.  A little over one week prior to our departure I ordered a wheelchair from Amazon.  When I mentioned to Wendy that we should see a wheelchair arriving on our doorstep any day she mentioned that she had ordered one as well.  We laughed about that, but it was good that she did because the one I ordered never showed up, and I ended up requesting a refund for mine.  Wendy’s wheelchair arrived a few days prior, and it would prove to be very useful.

We were scheduled to depart on Monday, April 21st, and the weekend before was Easter.  The kids came up from Utah to spend the weekend with us, and we enjoyed an Easter Dinner on Saturday with Prime Rib and all that went with it.  We also enjoyed watching the grandkids getting Easter Baskets and hunting for Easter Eggs in the backyard on Sunday morning.  I began mowing lawns for the first time this year as the grass was getting very tall.
