Travel Day to Seattle

We had a busy and chaotic morning trying to get ready.  I went to work in the morning to do my weekly reports and inventory.  Then Wendy discovered that our tax filing was declined and needed to file an extension, which put her behind.  We finally managed to get everything loaded in the car and hit the road around 12:30 p.m.  We picked up some lunch to eat along the way and drove to the Salt Lake City airport.  The weather was clear and sunny.  We had been watching the weather reports closely because it could have gone either way this time of year, and we were happy to see some clear days ahead.

We parked our car in the parking garage next to the airport.  This option is affordable because of Wendy’s handicap placard, and it makes it so much easier than shuttling from an off-site parking area.  We checked one bag and then went through security.  We arrived at our gate about 30 minutes prior to boarding.  We took advantage of pre-boarding and settled in for our flight to Seattle.

We departed the gate on time, but then the Captain came on the intercom and said that due to congested air traffic in Seattle we would have to hold for about twenty minutes.  We eventually took off and the flight went well, but when we got into the Seattle area we had to circle and make a lengthy approach which made our landing seem like forever.  After collecting our bags we went outside to board the shuttle to the car rental building.  The shuttle bus driver spoke for the entire ride and provided a lot of good information.  We decided to tip him because he did such a nice job.  We didn’t have to wait long at the Budget counter to get our rental car.  We received a Chevy Malibu that had a slight smoke smell, but we decided it was tolerable enough.

We drove to Everett, Washington to visit and stay with my sister and her family.  It had recently rained, and it grew dark by the time we arrived at their home.  We ate tacos with Stacy, Alex, and Jacob, and we had a nice visit.  Blaine arrived home from work about 10:00 p.m. and we continued to visit with them for another hour before going to bed.
